His Eyes Are Sad
Little boy sitting on the front
porch, waiting for daddy to come home
He doesn't realize that daddy's gone
He remembers the words they had, they echo through the walls
He remembers his daddy's eyes were sad
As daddy left the house, got into his truck
And drove away, on down the street
Looking back, his eyes were sad
His life's been a hard lesson to learn, he's does the very best he can
But he can't keep daddy off his mind
And as he grows into a young man, he hopes that he'll get the chance
To see his daddy with a smile in his eyes
As he leaves the house, gets into his truck
And drives away, on down the street
Looking around, his eyes are sad
And he knows his daddy's out there somewhere
He just has to find him so he can smile again
He knows his daddy is somewhere, he had to keep looking, looking
Looking around, his eyes are sad
Now his little boy sits on the porch, waiting for daddy to come home
He doesn't realize that daddy's gone
He remembers the words they had, they echo through the walls
He remembers his daddy's eyes were sad
As his daddy left the house, got into his truck
And drove away, on down the street
Looking back, his eyes were sad
And he knows his daddy's out there somewhere
He's just waiting for is daddy to come home
He knows his daddy is somewhere, he has to keep waiting, waiting
Looking from the porch, his eyes are sad
